Did you know you actually have TWO brains? Of course, there is that big guy between your ears – fully functioning, made up of the temporal, frontal, and parietal lobes, cerebellum… (neuroscience nerd here!), but I’ll spare you those details.
Today, I’d like to share with you more about your SECOND brain… your GUT!
As stated best by Hippocrates thousands of years ago, “All disease begins in the gut.” Yes, your gut digests your food, but it also is responsible for most of the other functions in your body. If your gut is out of balance or unhealthy, all other aspects of health suffer. Have you ever heard of leaky gut or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)? How about adrenal fatigue, Hashimoto’s or Crohn’s disease? What if I told you that ALL of these are related to the health of your gut?!
In case you don't know my story- here it is....
Growing up you could always find me outside- playing with my neighbors, swimming, and in my high school years running and playing soccer. While physically fit, I suffered from at least 5-7 sinus infections each year, on top of at least a case or two of a stomach bug and/or bronchitis. I thought it just ran in my family (my dad suffers the same type of respiratory issues). As I grew older, in addition to getting sick I also developed food allergies (dairy and gluten). Right when I thought I had these food intolerances under control, my body started rejecting more foods. Before I knew it, it appeared everything except fruit and peanut butter was making sick. Then I will never forget the day things in my life started to shift into a more positive realm. I stumbled into a yoga studio. As I learned to connect my movement with my breath I suddenly became more aware of my body, which in turn made me discover that I have the ability to listen to my gut- with my decisions, with my food choices, with my life. Clearly, I was addicted and decided to complete my RYT-200 Hour program which in turn led me to leading others in their yoga journey.
I was intrigued about nutrition and my intuition and completed a Holistic Health Program called the Integrative Institute of Nutrition. Due to my knowledge of food, health, and essential oils, I slowly healed my gut. I came across an interesting connection- the more yoga I did, the more thought I put into my food decisions. The more thought I put into my food decisions (i.e., emotional vs. non-emotional eating), the better I felt. The better I felt- the more yoga I strived for. As I mindfully twisted and balanced I discovered that my calling is to help others heal their guts, and honestly, heal their lives. Allow yourself to be important enough to be afforded the opportunity to empower yourself through natural solutions. The body, YOUR body, can heal itself given half the chance! If you’d like to chat more about where you are, let’s hop on the phone! If you would like to see more of what I’m up to you can visit my site here or sign up to stay in the know and get my freebie on using essential oils to curb emotional eating. I can’t wait to hear how things are going for you.
